However, it leaves out many of the real reasons to choose between Scripter and Script Debugger. You do point out that Script Debugger is scriptable and Scripter isn't, which I think is an important distinction [...]. Nevertheless, I much prefer Scripter because its debugging facilities are vastly superior to those in Script Debugger -- both in quantity (or variety) and in functionality. To choose between the two products, I believe a user must weigh scriptability against breadth and depth of debugging tools, but your table doesn't yet touch the comparative merits of their debugging power. [more debugging info has since been added] I have SMILE, but I haven't used it, so I can't really comment on it. However, I have a sense that it's in a world of its own. I suspect its debugging features are sort of accidental (that is, byproducts of other purposes), but that its scripting facilities are uniquely useful.
