Regarding the script editor comparisons,

I "needed" an editor that could exceed the 32k limit (that narrows it down). Actually until recently that was the only choice. Yes... even efficient code can exceed 32k on some projects.

Next I "wanted" an editor that was fast, simple and clean, but offered basic editor features (such as step through).
